Frequently Asked Questions about SignMyGuestbook.com:
What is SignMyGuestbook.com
It's a website where you can get a guestbook to add to your website.
Why would I use SignMyGuestbook.com?
If you want your website visitors to be able to leave you feedback in a
guestbook, this is the best way. We let you customize the page to look however you want (and you can use any of our built-in designs too).
Why is there a 1.99 signup fee?
This is a way to offset the costs of running the site, which involve lots of server and bandwidth bills.
Things that are free online get popular, and things that are really good and free get very, very popular. SignMyGuestbook has gotten very, very popular, much more than we expected even a short time ago.
When we offered completely free guestbooks, we were swamped by users, and were losing a lot of money, so by just charging everyone a one-time 1.99 fee when they signup we should be able to offset those costs.
So what does it cost after the 1.99 signup fee?
Nothing, there is no monthly fee. At some point in the future we MAY add extra paid features, but we won't take away anything
that your 1.99 one-time fee already got you, we'd just have optional extra new stuff available.
Why would I pay for this when I could get a guestbook somewhere else?
Do you like pop-up ads showing up on your site? How about guestbooks that delete old entries once you reach a certain limit? How about sites
that just disappear all of a sudden with no notice? These are the sort of things you have to put up with when you use most free guestbook services, we hear more horror stories from people
who have switched to SignMyGuestbook than you'd believe. If you are willing to put up with this sort of thing, that's cool, but if you don't mind
just paying the 2 bucks, you can avoid all those things, and save yourself a lot of annoyance.
I don't have a credit card or paypal account, how can I pay the 1.99?
All our payments are billed through paypal, who also will take echecks, so if you have a checkbook handy, that should work. If not, maybe
ask someone you know to spring for the 1.99 for you, just tell them it's 199 lousy cents, about the price of a candy bar or a cheap cup of coffee or
whatever!
What if I signed up for a guestbook before the 1.99 deal?
No problem, you don't have to pay, but if you want to make a donation, let us know!
How does the signup work then?
It's simple, you just sign up, and after you've signed up you will see a button you can click to pay the 1.99. Once we receive
the payment, we'll enable your account so you can receive guestbook signings (which should take a few minutes usually). Until you pay, you
can still log in to the account and change the design, etc., you just can't actually accept guestbook signings.
What happens if I don't pay right away and leave the page with the button?
No problem, the signup email you receive will have a link to pay the 1.99.
What's the catch?
There isn't a huge catch,, we're hoping that while you're using our guestbooks, you'll also want to check out some of
our other quality services, like Notifylist.com (mailing lists for your site) , Diaryland.com (free online diary sites) and Pitas.com (get your own weblog).
Once I sign up, how do I get the guestbook to show up on my page?
Click here to go to the page in the members area which gives you some sample
snippets of html to stick on your site, that should cover it! Your guestbook will show up on the web at
http://YOUR-USERNAME.signmyguestbook.com
I want to ask my visitors some questions apart from their name and that normal stuff, can I?
Sure thing, there
are 5 optional fields (named 'option1', 'option2' ... 'option5') you can use however you want. If you know HTML, just edit the look of your
templates and add some fields named option1, option2, etc. If this confuses you, don't worry, we'll have a tutorial up on this very soon! In
the meantime, some of our built-in designs have some extra options thrown in you can use!
